ELAC is a strong and vibrant ATA specialist council because we make a conscious effort to represent the professional development and curricular interests of English Language Arts teachers province-wide. Now is the perfect time to get involved!
With our Annual General Meeting coming up, we’re looking for dedicated educators to join the council and make an impact for 1,500 ELA teachers across the province. Time spent in this role is both valuable and nourishing — executive members often share how much they appreciate the shared learning, the passion for our discipline, the meaningful connections we build, and of course, the ever-growing book lists that come out of every meeting! The positions listed below are currently in need of someone to step into the role — and we’d love for that to be you!
Open positions for the 2024-2025 ELAC Executive:
- President Elect
- ELAC Journal Editor(s)
- New Teacher Liaison
- Calgary Regional Representative
- Northwest Regional Representative
- Greater North Regional Representative
As part of the executive, you’ll help shape meaningful professional learning opportunities for ELA teachers across Alberta. We meet four to five times a year, typically on Saturdays in Edmonton or Calgary, and all expenses for travel and accommodation are covered.
You may nominate yourself or a colleague (with their consent). Please review the ELAC Handbook for full role descriptions before submitting a nomination.
If you have any questions or want to learn more about what it’s like to be part of the council, reach out to Bailey Almberg at bailey.almberg@gmail.com— she’d be happy to connect with you!
Nominations close April 18,2025.
This year’s AGM is held in conjunction with our one-day conference, Writing in Place.
