ELAC is committed to ensuring equitable access to professional learning opportunities. The intent of the Sparsity and Travel grant offered by ELAC is to ensure that no member is deprived of valuable Professional Learning due to travel-related expenses. ELAC will sponsor 2 teachers who face barriers in attending due to travel costs with a grant of $1000 to attend our biennial conference.

To ensure some level of objectivity ELAC will use the map below to ensure objective eligibility requirements. Winners will be chosen by a random draw.

Grant Applications are due March 1st, 2026, with successful applicants being notified March 4th, 2026. Please contact us at elacteachers@gmail.com with clarifying questions.

Application should include:

• your name
• district
• teaching assignment
• what you hope to learn at the conference
• a brief explanation of why travel costs are a significant obstacle in your attendance at the conference.

Please note: Participants will be responsible for paying any fees over $1000 including the balance of accommodation and transportation. Participants will be reimbursed upon submitting a brief (500 word) reflection on their experience at the conference. Reflections may be published online, in a journal, or on social media.
